Social impact

At Studio 138, we aim to provide an affordable and flexible space for creative practitioners and groups to be able to – well – create!

At Studio 138, we’re committed to making a positive difference in our community. We believe in the power of the arts to inspire change and foster connection. Through our projects and initiatives, we aim to create a positive social impact and contribute to the well-being of our society. We’re always looking for ways to give back and make a meaningful contribution through our work.

We have been able to host and support a number of initiatives and plan to continue to do so in the future.

  • Outback Writers’ short play writing workshops, July to September, 2023. Outback writers is a Dubbo based not-for profit providing writers  in the Orana region with opportunities to develop their knowledge, understanding and practice in all aspects of writing. The short play writing workshops were free and volunteer run. Studio 138 was able to provide an affordable venue.
  • Voices of Women collaboration. Voices of Women is a writing, live performance and digital program for women, and by women. It was created to engage diverse and First Nations women writers, actors and musicians to celebrate and share their stories to change lives, connect women across all walks of life across Australia, and challenge prejudice and stereotypes. Since 2021, Studio 138 has collaborated with Voices of Women to bring their show and writing workshops to Dubbo. This has opened up opportunities for local women of all ages and backgrounds to write, have their writing performed, and to perform.
  • Capacity building. Studio 138 is committed to building the capacity of local creatives by providing opportunities to create and learn.
